What is Ida?
Ida is a dating app built and run in Québec City. Its defining feature: one active match at a time. Your match only talks to you, and you only to your match, until one of you decides to move on.
Is it free?
Yes. Browsing, liking, matching and chatting are free, with no limits. Optional subscriptions (Ida Star, Nova, Supernova) add tools like seeing who liked you, boosting your profile or skipping the queue.
Why one match at a time?
Because it works better. When your match is talking to twenty people, your messages go unanswered. With one conversation on each side, both people are actually present. What the research says.
Can I keep swiping while I have a match?
Yes. You can browse and like profiles at any time. Ida keeps your likes in a queue: they become matches when you're free.
How do I move on to the next match?
You disconnect from your current conversation, and the next person in your queue appears. If a conversation fades on its own, Ida detects it and frees you both.
Are my messages private?
Yes. Conversations are end-to-end encrypted: the server only stores ciphertext, and nobody at Ida can read them.
Where is Ida available?
On iPhone (App Store) and Android (Google Play), in English and French. The community is concentrated in Québec, mostly around Montréal and Québec City.
How do I delete my account?
From the app, in your profile settings. You can also follow the steps on the Delete my account page.
How do I report a problem or a person?
Every profile and every conversation has a report option in the app. For anything else, write to contact@datingwithida.com: the founder answers.
Who is behind Ida?
JF Savard, a developer from Québec City, built Ida alone over four years and now runs it with the help of AI agents, with no investors. More in the press room.
